A trip to camp … and back.

I usually like snow. I’m actually a big fan of it in December, January, and February. After that it is time for it to go! Can you believe we could get up to a foot of snow by Monday, April 16th! UGH!
With all this talk of snow it reminds me of the annual camping trip I took with my college friends a few weeks ago. This is also the last full weekend I have off until January of 2008, so it seems like a good chance to share.
We went to my friends camp in Renova, PA. A new place for this annual trip. The camp was beautiful and completely isolated. I was surprised that Renova was in the mountains of Central Pennsylvania. Back in the middle of March when the weather started to warm up and feel like spring down here in Clarion, up in the mountains they still had 6 inches to a foot of snow. Needless to say it was a shock to all of us. Including my friend Zeg, who on the way to camp on Friday, ended up getting his Blazer stuck in a ditch. We ended up getting him out thanks to a tow rope and my Dodge Durango with the HEMI.

As with all trips to camp, it’s good to catch up with old friends, talk about the “good times”, and hopefully make a few new stories in the process. With our trips to camp, we have never actually went hunting. It is more about the beer, the food, the cards, and the downtime. My friend Rich reminded me of this on our walk out. Rich said,”The best part of camp is you have the opportunity to do nothing.” Sometimes that is all you need to get you re-charged.
